How Can You Help Your Child Be a Successful Reader!

Hello Grade 3 Parents & Guardians. Here is your first assignment from me!  Yes, you get homework this year as well! It's simple homework, I promise! Too often teachers (that's me!) send their students home with reading homework and ask parents (that's you!) to support them as they read. It dawned on me that while you all can do a great job in supporting them, you may not know HOW to do that. You may not know that there are certain strategies and tips that you can do to really help to support your children in becoming better readers who think deeply about the text they are reading or are being read too. SO, your first order of business is to familiarize yourself with this Blog. I will highlight an area of reading development each month. There will be links to fun resources, research and even some videos. Your first assignment is to read about the importance of Think Alouds to a reader's development.
